A boom truck is a crane mounted on a truck chassis. It drives to the job on its own, sets up on outriggers in minutes, makes the lift, and leaves. For most lifts in the Denver metro, from a rooftop air conditioner to a highway sign, it is the right tool, and it is what Bill Boom Inc has run out of Englewood since 1965.
What we lift with a boom truck
- Rooftop HVAC units: package units, RTUs, condensers, swamp coolers and mini-split outdoor units, on and off one- to four-story roofs.
- Signs: pylon signs, monument sign cabinets, and highway guide signs, set onto posts or structures.
- Steel and lumber: beams, trusses, and bundled framing packages placed where the crew needs them.
- Equipment: generators, transformers, compressors, hot tubs, and anything else that is too heavy for a forklift and too awkward for a telehandler.

Boom truck or a bigger crane?
A boom truck is the economical choice when the load is under its chart at the radius you need and the truck can park close to the pick. Tight alleys, long reaches over a building, or very heavy loads call for a larger hydraulic crane. Tell us the weight, where it sits now, where it needs to go, and how far the truck can park from both spots. If a boom truck is not the right machine, we will say so.
How a lift day goes
- You call. No call center: the person who picks up knows the trucks and can usually quote the lift on that call.
- We confirm the time, the address, and what we need from you on site (a clear spot for the truck, the load ready to rig).
- The operator arrives, sets up, makes the lift, and is out of your way.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a boom truck and a crane?
A boom truck is a crane mounted on a commercial truck. It drives to the site under its own power and sets up faster than a larger crane, which makes it the usual choice for HVAC, sign, and light steel lifts.
Does Bill Boom provide the operator?
Yes. Every lift comes with an experienced operator. We do not rent bare equipment.
How do I get a quote for a boom truck lift?
Call (303) 761-2666 with the weight of the load, the pick and set locations, and the address. Every lift is quoted on the phone.
